Epos converses with Nicolas Tenzer

Terrorist attacks in Paris have left more than 120 people dead yesterday. The attacks took place in multiple locations and involved different methods. The identity of the terrorists and their motives are still unknown, although French President François Hollande has promised a "merciless" response. EPOS has interviewed Nicolas Tenzer in order to better understand and to depict clearly what is happening in France and in Europe after the terrorist attacks in Paris. Mr Tenzer is an expert in geopolitics, geostrategies and security affairs. Senior civil servant, writer, and editor, Nicolas Tenzer is the director of the journal "Le Banquet", and President of the Centre d’étude et de réflexion pour l’action politique (CERAP). In the following exclusive interview for EPOS, Mr Tenzer discusses sensitive issues like terrorism, fundamentalism and security in the aftermath of the tragic episodes in France

Why Turkey Allowed Peshmarga Passage to Kobane

In the following exclusive article for EPOS, Idrees Mohammed discusses Turkey's attitude towards Kobane, the Syria's Kurdish town attacked by the jihadists of the Islamic State in the last weeks. He analyses the reasons why Turkey, although had refused to act in Kobane directly, has allowed Peshmarga passage to the town. He focuses on all the political relations between Turkish-Kurdish party and Iraqi and Syrian Kurdish parties, and the relations between Turkey and its neighboring countries and between Ankara and the West. Idrees Mohammed is an expert in International Relations and Kurdish affairs. His MA thesis was on Turkey's policy towards Kurdistan Region. He is now focusing on Turkey's policy towards Kurds, including Syria's Kurdish. He teaches International Relations in University of Duhok’s department of Political Science

The IS movement towards Erbil threatened the security of Kurdistan Region. People were panicked and large numbers rushed into Erbil airport to leave the region. The humanitarian catastrophe in Shingal and the threat of Erbil's fall to IS rang alarm bells worldwide. The situation is rather complicated. It does not look to be a short-term bottleneck. There is a need for a long-term strategy to deal with the situation
