The fall of the Berlin Wall was celebrated on November 9th, 2009 by Prime Ministers and Heads of State coming from all Europe and the United States. The historic importance of the event is generally acknowledged, but there is still much to learn about its causes and the motivations of the people who took part in Giancarlo Rossi interviewed Roland Schoenfeld, a German scholar who lived in Leipzig, in the former Gdr, when the Berlin Wall fell.
