EPOS Insights Brexit has been the most debated issue of the last months in Europe, because it represents a turning point not only in the history of the United Kingdom but especially in the that of the European Union. It is the first time, since the birth of the European Community, that a Member States decides to leave the EU. It has been a shock for the European Union, which normally rejects demands of admission but has never drafted a Withdrawing Agreement. Is Brexit a failure or an opportunity for all the actors involved, for United Kingdom and the European Union? What will be the future of the "European Dream" and of the Union Jack? In the following exclusive article for EPOS, Eleonora Lamio tries to answer these and other questions, pointing out and elucidating all the factors from a political, economic, social and cultural point of view |

EPOS Insights "Quo vadis Europa at 27?" was the question that the President of the EU Commission Jean Claude Junker raised in his speech at the Plenaria in Brussels last March 10th, presenting his document titled “White Paper on the Future of Europe”. All the European leaders have been asked to decide how the EU should react to its internal and external crises. Especially after Brexit, the EU is at an historical turning point: time has come to decide which path the EU should follow. As President Junker said, “It is time to open a new chapter of our history”. In the following exclusive article for EPOS, our new intern Eleonora Lamio, Bachelor degree in International and Diplomatic Sciences at LUISS Guido Carli University, analyses the challenges that the European Union is facing, pointing out the political, economic, social and cultural implications |

EPOS Insights With the Trump presidency, relations between Russia and the US have become a great unknown for Europe and the world, but a huge opportunity too. Europe and the world await the results of the Trump-Putin meeting that is supposed to take place in the months to come. There are plenty of challenges on the table, and perhaps Trump’s hyper-realist attitude will contribute to making some sort of settlement between the United States and Russia possible, resulting in a substantial improvement in relations between the two countries and of international relations in Europe and in the world as a whole. In the following exclusive article for EPOS, Gregorio Baggiani points out and discusses the actual possibilities of finding a difficult compromise between the parties and the obstacles that could come in the way of a possible agreement. The article focuses on the various regional scenarios that characterize bilateral relations between the US and Russia. |
